DYI Spider Web Embellishments

I just love it when I get double duty from a punch. At first glance the Creative Memories Spider Web Frame Punch may seem like a one or two time use punch, but look at all the fabulous possibilities we have with this fun punch. From borders, to frames, even DYI embellishments.

Let’s take a look at the DYI embellishments we can create with this punch. If you punch in like a regular border punch, this is considered an edge punch and will remain on the edge of the paper until you trim it off.

Step One: punch out one row of webs on the edge of the paper, starting the punch out with the side edge of the paper aligned to the front black line. Continue by sliding the paper and aligning it to the blue pattern on the platform of the punch.

Step Two: Trim the edge off the paper at 2”. This step is important because this will create a tight spider web. Pro tip: to create a wider center within the spider web (as seen above), trim the paper wider.

Once we have the two inch strip, we need to punch along the opposite side. Two inches will get lost in the punch, so we need to use a “cheater”. Here I attach a sticky note to the far left side of the punched out strip.

Step Three: Slide punched out strip into the punch, aligned the edge of the post-it to the black line on the punch. (Yes, the sticky note may get punched, pull gently pulls away from the paper when done.)

Step Four: Cut apart the spider web chains with scissors to create the individual spider webs.

Use your spider webs on cards, scrapbook layouts, junk journals and so many other possibilities. Then come back and try some of the other fun options with this punch!

Enjoy!
